Diego Cruz Gates, Founding Member of the Alianza Peruana de Sommeliers – ALIPS.

Peruvian sommelier and founder of Terroir Fine Wines, and professor at Le Cordon Bleu Perú. Winner of the best sommelier competition 2014 and second place best sommelier 2013. He has received two of the industry’s most prestigious certifications, Certified Sommelier of the Court of Masters Sommeliers. He graduated with the highest grade in his class. Level 2 WSET – Wine & Spirit Education Trust, graduated with merit. Currently, he is a candidate for the Advanced Level of the Court of Master Sommeliers.

Diego’s trajectory began in 2010 as corporate sommelier at Peru’s Intipalka winery, and later two years in service at The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center. He then worked as Food and Beverage consultant at the Tamarindo Diría Beach Resort in Costa Rica. Upon returning to Peru, he took charge of the wine portfolio at importer and wine shop La Viniteca while building a career in the world of wine. Today, he continues this work at his own wine importation business, dedicated to the precise work of curatorship and search. To date, his business represents twenty-four wineries and 150 labels from eight countries around the world.
