Joseph Ruiz Acosta, Founding Member of the Alianza Peruana de Sommeliers – ALIPS.
Joseph is a Peruvian sommelier who graduated from the Instituto del Vino y el Pisco (IDVIP) en el 2012. His career as a sommelier began at the Central restaurant in 2011 as an assistant sommelier. Over the years, his curiosity and passion for the subject helped him stand out in national competitions and later, with more experience, in international competitions representing the country on different occasions, achieving position 7 in the Pan American Competition Montreal, Canada 2018 and Top 50 in The World Championship in Antwerp, Belgium 2019.
He is currently active in the Court of Master Sommeliers where he will try to obtain the Advanced Level certification. He also is a three-time National Champion (2019, 2018, and 2015). He is a teacher in several schools where he shares his knowledge with future gastronomy professionals and serves as consultant to various companies.
