
The Alianza Peruana de Sommeliers – ALIPS is the new association for Peruvian professionals in the food and beverage industry of Peru. Their mission is based on an honest and committed alliance between sommeliers which seeks to unite, represent, and ensure the rights and interests of Peruvian professionals and residents.
“With bread and wine, any path can be walked” – This phrase, alluding to wine and whose author is unknown, is the inspiration for the path that fifteen founding associates of the Alianza Peruana de Sommeliers – ALIPS have undertaken: a path that with great optimism which they wish to follow in the company of other professional sommelier, institutional associates, wineries, and oenophile enthusiasts in order to spread and promote the knowledge and study of the culture of wine and good drinking.
In March of this year, this Alliance was formed, which brings together a broad spectrum of professionals active in different areas of gastronomy and was born as a result of the need to work together for the rights of professional sommeliers, as well as to promote the education, training, development, and improvement of the sommelier profession in Peru. It also seeks national and international recognition, promoting a union and exchange among Peruvian and foreign sommeliers, promoting ethics, principles, and values in the exercise of the profession.
The Alianza Peruana de Sommeliers – ALIPS is necessary to participate in an organized manner in the events carried out by the Peruvian state and private entities and individuals, as well as develop cooperation and the exchange of information among its members and other associations and institutions of sommeliers at the national and international level.
The Board of Directors for the period 2022 – 2025 is: Máximo Garay (President), María Florencia Rey (Vice President), Pedro Cuenca (General Secretary), Armando Ponce (Treasurer) and Juan Pablo Figueroa (Council Member). The other founding partners make up the committees of Ethics and Discipline, Education, and Marketing; Joseph Ruiz, Soledad Marroquín, Jorge Jiménez, Gregory Smith, Diego Cruz, Manuel Carrasco, Lucero Villagarcía, Edgard Sialer, Álvaro Duran and Carlos Neira.
