Pedro is a professional sommelier who graduated with honors from the Escuela Peruana de Sommeliers. Since 2011 he has been working as the corporate sommelier at Wong supermarkets, in charge of the organization of the “Wong Expovino Wine Competition” for eight editions (2012-2019 y 2021).
His passion for wine has led him to visit wineries in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Germany, and Spain. In 2016 he founded Cata Privada, a company dedicated to sharing wine culture by organizing tastings, national and international wine tourism trips, wine courses, and corporate events. In addition, he has been sharing his experience and knowledge in the three main study centers for the training of future sommeliers: the Instituto del Vino y del Pisco (IDVIP), Le Cordon Bleu Perú, and the Escuela Peruana de Sommeliers.
As a result of the more than 25 journeys made to the different wineries and wine-producing areas of Peru, he decided to organize the first Peruvian Wine Show in 2017, a fair aimed at providing the largest exhibition of Peruvian wines and which, in recent years, has become the most important event showcasing Peruvian wines. To provide a permanent boost and a sales channel for small production Peruvian wines, he founded PERUVINO in 2019.
In 2019 he served as Tasting Director of the Santa Cruz Wine Contest, Bolivia and since 2020 has served as Tasting Director of the National Peruvian Wine Contest organized by the Cámara de Comercio de Ica, and in 2021 established the Wine Contest of the Salón del Vino Peruano. That same year he was invited by the Cámara de Comercio de Huacho to fulfill the role of Director of the first Lima Regional Contest.
